First produced in 1983, the iconic Land Rover Defender’s 33-year production run spawned over 2-million vehicles. None of which are quite like the ‘Monaco Art Edition’ Defender 90.
Designed by Vault in collaboration with artist Alan Walsh, this one-of-one vehicle is inspired by the glamourous principality on the French Riviera – from Le Palais Princier de Monaco to the Casino de Monte-Carlo.
Unveiled at Walsh’s ‘Extraordinary Automotive’ exhibition earlier this year, this unique take on a timeless classic is a combination of the artist’s unique style and Vault’s unmatched quality in the Defender space.
Decorated with the red and white of the Monaco flag with elegant touches of gold throughout, the bespoke vehicle serves as a tribute to an automotive icon – and the place that Walsh now calls home.
The distinctive, wooden side-steps and rear-bed are inspired by the decking that floors many of the boats that flock to the famous port of Monaco.
Touches of gold, such as on the hinges, wheels – each adorned with a card suit alluding to the prominent casino that sits atop the rocks, and rear step, are a nod to the luxurious reputation of the region, and compliment the contrasting white and red that continues on the interior.
